Poker Basics 101: 1

Poker has always been a popular game but thanks to the recent emergence of televised poker games as well as the growing interest in the World Series of Poker, or WSOP, it has never been more popular than it is right now. That is bringing a lot of new players into the game — and if you are one of them, realize that learning things from the bottom up is going to make you a fantastic player very quickly.

You need to know the basics. Now, rules can only take you so far. As you learn the rules, you also need to put them into play. So I need you to do something here: for each new rule, tip, or strategy presented in this series of post, do what you can to put it into practice so that you can actually apply firsthand experience to what you learn.

Now, that does not mean you should run right out and start playing high stakes at a bricks and mortar casino or at an online one. Just invite a couple of buddies over and play for fun!
